THE THREE THINGS YOU WILL LEARN:
Dr. Mike has been studying this and other topics since 2002 and teaching seminars and classes since his time in full-time ministry in 2006.
Starting in 2002, God has orchestrated what's been a 22-year long journey into understanding the Hebraic context of the Bible, how to connect the dots between the Old and New Testaments, and understanding how the biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for the Messiah's first and second coming.
His passion and calling is to help others understand these topics and raise up leaders in the earth for the end times - those whom the prophet Daniel prophesied would "...know their God, be strong, do exploits... shine as the sun and turn many to righteousness" during the darkest hour that will ever come upon humanity.
The phrase, a "day and hour no one knows," is actually a reference to the first day of each month in ancient Israel's calendar (the biblical calendar).
Counting the Months by the Lunar Cycle
Ancient Israel (and other ancient civilizations) didn’t have calendars like we have today. Months and dates and so on were not pre-determined. They marked time by observing the repeating cycles of the sun and the moon and how those cycles corresponded to the seasons of the year.
Ancient Israel counted the months on their sacred biblical calendar according to the lunar cycle and the appearance of the new moon. The sighting of the new moon started the first day of each month.
Each lunar cycle (a lunar month) takes approximately 29.5 days. This is a lunar month. Then it begins another cycle (lunar month). Ancient Israel used this to mark the start of each month on their calendar.
This is actually God's biblical calendar and his way of reckoning the months (and years) on his time keeping for humanity.
In the 29.5-day lunar cycle, the moon appears as illustrated below (read the chart from right to left):
Day 1 – This is the New Moon: a small right-handed crescent, visible just after sunset, and usually for a very brief amount of time - about 30 minutes.
Days 2-13 – The moon waxes larger until it becomes the full moon.
Days 14/15 – The moon waxes to a full moon. This is the midpoint in the lunar month.
Days 14-27 – The moon wanes smaller and smaller.
Days 28-29 – The moon wanes to a small left-handed crescent, then it cannot be seen in the sky the last few days of the lunar month. Then the cycle repeats at the next new (renewed) moon.
Sighting the New Moon to Start Each Month
Each month of the ancient biblical/Jewish calendar began when two witnesses sighted the small crescent of the new moon. When the new moon was sighted and confirmed by the priests, they would sound a shofar blast and trumpets from the Temple.
This would begin the first day of the month, and they did this for each month of the year.
This day (1st day of each month) is known as Rosh Chodesh, which means “head of the month.” It was a monthly holiday and celebrated as a day of rest like the sabbath.
Because this day (Rosh Chodesh) began only on the day and hour when the new moon was sighted, Rosh Chodesh always occurs on “a day and hour which no one knows.”
Here's how it works: During the month, you're watching the appearance of the moon. As its appearance goes from a full moon (days 14/15) to getting smaller and smaller and then not visible at all (days 27-29), you know sometime in that final 2 or 3-day time frame the new moon will appear.
Even though you know the 2 or 3-day time frame in which the new moon will appear, you never know beforehand EXACTLY which day, or which hour of the day, it will appear.
You have to be ready, waiting, and watching because sighting the new moon when it's FIRST visible is tricky.
Sighting the new moon when it's FIRST visible is tricky because it's only visible for maybe 30 minutes. This small window of time occurs immediately after sunset, and the new moon is visible just above the western horizon.
It's hard to see because you have a short window of time to see it, and it's brightness is often faint because the sky is still slightly lit by the fading sunlight. You must be ready, waiting, and intently watching for it, or you will miss it.
When the two witnesses did see it, they would report to the Levitical priests. The priests would confirm the sighting, the high priest would approve the report and officially declare the day to be Rosh Chodesh, and they would blow the shofar and trumpets from the Temple mount so everyone would know.
All the ancient Israelites were waiting for this day too. And so, Rosh Chodesh would officially begin just after sunset, and everyone would have a day of rest regardless which day of the week it was.
And because there are 12 or 13 months per year, with 12 or 13 "first days" in each month, Rosh Chodesh, which is the “day and hour which no one knows,” occurs 12 or 13 times each year.
In conclusion, this is a metaphorical picture of us needing to understand and keep our eyes on God and His appointed times, His moedim (in Hebrew), the biblical holidays.
This is monthly practice and discipline designed for God’s people to grow in understanding His times and seasons. And the church of today has lost this knowledge. (I explain that further below)
But, why does understanding the lunar calendar and Rosh Chodesh matter to you today? Because these are integral aspects of Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets/Shouting), one of the fall biblical holidays.
And, what I am going to show you next, the biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for the fist and second coming of the Messiah!
In particular, Yom Teruah is the prophetic rehearsal for Yeshua's return, the resurrection, and the rapture. And these events occur at the conclusion of the end times.
Read on...
We're going to return to Rosh Chodesh and a "day and hour no one knows," but first I need to show you one of the most important biblical concepts you will EVER learn. This is essential to accurately understand a "day and hour no one knows" and the correct timing of the rapture.
THE BIBLICAL HOLIDAYS ARE PROPHETIC REHEARSALS FOR THE FIRST AND SECOND COMING OF THE MESSIAH.
In other words:
What God commanded ancient Israel to do for the holidays,
How ancient Israel celebrated them (especially in the Temple eras), and
When the holidays and their specific events occurred on the ancient calendar...
all contain symbolic imagery, or foreshadowing - to the literal day and hour - of the major events, and their timing, that would occur in Yeshua's life as he fulfills the mission of his first coming and his second coming!
God intentionally designed his holidays so his people - the ancient Israelites and Christians today - would understand exactly WHAT would happen, HOW it would happen, and WHEN it would happen when the Messiah comes to earth in his his first AND SECOND COMING.
Get that: Christians today are SUPPOSED to understand - exactly - the specific events of Yeshua's second coming and the sequence (WHEN) in which they will occur. Read that again.
How a Holiday's "Prophetic Rehearsal" and Yeshua's Fulfillment of the Rehearsal Works.
Let's examine the Passover holiday. It's the prophetic rehearsal for the Messiah's crucifixion and atonement for the sin of all humanity for all time. (Note the what, how, and when of how this works)
What God commanded Israel to do for Passover (Exodus 12:1-7): Select a lamb, inspect it for 4 days to make sure it's perfect, then slaughter it for the Passover meal. Illustrated below:
Illustrated below is the Original Passover when God delivered ancient Israel from Egyptian slavery.
Centuries later, after Israel had taken their Promised Land, and particularly during the Temple eras, how they celebrated the Passover became an even more detailed prophetic rehearsal of Yeshua's crucifixion.
Tens of thousands of Jewish men would slaughter their Passover lambs on the Temple mount beginning with the morning Temple service (9am) and ending with the evening Temple service (3pm). Illustrated below:
Ancient Israel did this for a thousand years. A thousand years! Year after year after year after year after year for centuries... And every year they were symbolically "rehearsing" ONE SPECIFIC FUTURE EVENT: the crucifixion of the Messiah, Yeshua, and his atonement for humanity's sin.
His crucifixion occurred EXACTLY when - on the same literal day and hour of the day - as the Passover lambs were being slaughtered on the Temple mount. Illustrated below:
That is how a holiday's "prophetic rehearsal" and Yeshua's fulfillment of the rehearsal works.
The what, how, and when of how ancient Israel celebrated the biblical holidays show us precise and detailed symbolic imagery of exactly what will happen in the major events, and their timing, in the Messiah's first and second coming to earth.
The Passover is just one example. In Leviticus 23, the Bible gives us a summary of all seven of God's holidays.
The 4 spring biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for Messiah's first coming.
The 3 fall biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for Messiah's second coming.
Each holiday contains numerous specific events and characteristics. All of which show us precise symbolic imagery of different aspects of Yeshua's first and second coming AND their timing.
Now that you understand the concept, let's examine what Paul and Yeshua said about the timing of the rapture in the next lesson. After that, we will return to Rosh Chodesh and a "day and hour no one knows," and we will tie everything together.
As I've mentioned, the phrase in Matthew 24:36 about Yeshua's' return on a "day and hour no one knows" DOES NOT mean he could return on a random, arbitrary day that could occur tomorrow or next week or next month.
So you better be rapture-ready because God will rapture the church out of here before the end times start.
This idea is know as the "pre-tribulation rapture."
That idea is erroneously believed to be true by a vast majority of today's Christians. The Hebraic context of the Bible clearly shows THIS IS NOT THE CASE.
In this course I'm showing you the Bible's original Hebraic context and how God embedded prophetic rehearsals in the biblical holidays - and how understanding that easily shows us that the pre-tribulation rapture idea is incorrect.
And furthermore, it shows us the rapture happens with Yeshua's return at the conclusion of end times events.
Understanding everything you're learned this far - along with Rosh Chodesh, sighting the new moon, and the holiday of Yom Teruah - are the keys to accurately understanding the pre-tribulation rapture idea is incorrect, and the rapture occurs at the end of the end times. Let's examine that.
When is the Timing of the Rapture?
Studying the books of Daniel, Revelation, and others reveal:
The end times are a period of 7 years (the tribulation),
The Abomination of Desolation and the Mark of the Beast occur in the middle of the 7 years, and
The Messiah returns at the end of the 7-year tribulation.
As illustrated below:
The Apostle Paul tells us Yeshua's second coming and the rapture ("Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him") do not occur until AFTER the Abomination of Desolation event ("the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed" ).
2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 “1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come.
3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”
We illustrate this below with the resurrection and rapture occurring sometime after the AOD:
Yeshua tells us his second coming will be glorious, powerful, occur with a loud trumpet blast ("teruah" in Hebrew), and his angels will accompany him as they're sent to gather his people.
Matthew 24:30-31 “30 At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn.
They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”
And the Apostle Paul, referencing Yeshua's words above, tells us more: that the rapture happens after the resurrection, and they both occur at the Yeshua's second coming.
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 “15 According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
Now in our timeline we can move the Resurrection and Rapture to Messiah's 2nd Coming as illustrated below:
Now, at this point, remember that the fall biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for the major events, and their timing, of Messiah's second coming.
More specifically, Yom Teruah is the prophetic rehearsal for the Messiah's second coming, the resurrection, and the rapture.
There is a lot of scripture, that when you put it all together, confirms that last statement. It's too much to cover it all here, but we will focus on how Rosh Chodesh and sighting the new moon are integral parts of Yom Teruah and how that confirms my previous statement.
When you understand that, and do the field trip I've designed for you, the connections start to come together and you have a major "A-ha!" moment and everything makes sense.
And remember... we're simply allowing the Hebraic context of the Bible to speak for itself and define itself.
So, now let's return to Rosh Chodesh and a "day and hour no one knows" in the next lesson...
Out of all the biblical holidays, Yom Teruah (Day or Feast of Trumpets/Shouting) is unique because it is the only feast which occurs on Rosh Chodesh, the first day of the month.
Therefore... Yom Teruah is the only biblical holiday that occurs on “a day and hour which no one knows,” BECAUSE it begins with sighting the new moon, which you never know when that day or hour will occur until it actually occurs.
Plus, it's the only holiday that starts with a trumpet blast and a shofar blast.
And, because the fall biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for Messiah's second coming, Yom Teruah must be the rehearsal for significant end times events.
Well, what are those events?
As we have learned in previous lessons, those significant events are Yeshua's return, the resurrection, and the rapture. All of which occur at the end of the end times.
Below is an illustration of sighting the new moon and blowing the shofar (ram's horn).
So now we take the illustration from our previous lesson when we learned the resurrection and rapture occur at Messiah's second coming:
And we add the detail we understand now that these three events occur on a future Yom Teruah (the prophetic rehearsal), so our timeline illustration looks as follows:
So, when the disciples questioned Yeshua about the timing of His return (Matthew 24:3), and He said, "Immediately after the distress of those days..." (Matthew 24:29), we accurately understand even more that Yeshua meant his return, the resurrection, and the rapture all occur on a future Yom Teruah, exactly as he said: "after" the end times.
Matthew 24:29-31 29 “Immediately after the distress of those days, 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’
30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."
So, why doesn't the church know these things?
Why is this information not widely taught?
Why do the vast majority of Christians misunderstand this?
Great questions. And that is the topic of the next lesson...
I'm showing you in this course, as I do in all my courses, the Hebraic context of the Bible.
Why is that so vital to understand? Why should Christians care about the Hebraic context of the Bible?
Truthfully, it doesn't matter too much simply for matters of salvation and living a traditional, American, Christian life. Nothing wrong with that, if that's all you want in your relationship with God.
But if you want to dive deeper into understanding God, his plans, and the Bible - particularly if you want to accurately understand Israel and the church, the end times, and the timing of Yeshua's return and the rapture at the END of the end times...
Then you MUST embrace the Hebraic context of the Bible.
Why?
Because the Bible is an ancient Hebraic /Jewish collection of writings from an ancient Hebraic culture that existed on the other side of the planet, had an eastern mindset, and was written thousands of years ago in the ancient Hebraic language (Paleo Hebrew / Hebrew / Aramaic / some Greek).
Most end times scripture is found in the books of the Old Testament (all Hebrew, all Hebraic context).
And the book of Revelation is so cryptic and symbolic that if you don't understand the Hebraic context of the Old Testament and how to accurately connect the dots between the Old and New Testaments, along with many of ancient Israel's customs, you will NEVER understand the book of Revelation correctly.
So, what happened?! How did the church lose the Hebraic context of the Bible?
The Early Church's Divorce from Everything Hebraic and Jewish
Because in the first few centuries following the Messiah’s first coming - after Jesus’ disciples had passed away, the Roman Empire had conquered Israel and exiled the Jewish people throughout the earth, and the church consisted mostly of non-Jewish (Gentile) believers who had no connection to, or care for, Jewish culture, customs, etc. – the early Roman Catholic Church divorced itself from everything Jewish.
Christian doctrine came to consider itself as having replaced Israel and the Jewish people in God’s plans.
Sadly, even if only subconsciously, most Christians today still have this idea in their thinking and their approach to understanding the Bible and God's plans -especially regarding the end times.
The early church’s enmity towards the Jews and Jewish culture grew over time until no trace of anything Jewish remained in Christian culture or practice.
The Church's Inheritance of Ancient Christian History
Today’s church has inherited that history. Most Christians do not know what I'm showing you. And what's worse: they don't know they don't know.
And unfortunately, most Christians continue to have little or no understanding of the Hebraic /Jewish context of the Bible. Some are even unaware that Yeshua was Jewish.
These things are simply not taught in most modern mainstream churches, or even mainstream seminaries or bible colleges for that matter.
This is why you don't hear what I'm showing you from your pastor.
And so we have a vast myriad of differing ideas about the end times. The church is sharply divided into different camps regarding the end times, especially the timing of end times events and in particular, the timing of the rapture.
They can't all be correct - so some camps must have it wrong.
This is why Jesus said, "... many will fall away from their faith" when the end times come - because they were counting on the pre-tribulation rapture, and when that DOES NOT HAPPEN, they will be so offended - and so unprepared emotionally - they will abandon their faith.
In Conclusion
That's why I am doing what I'm doing: teaching the Hebraic context of the Bible and showing you how the biblical holidays are prophetic rehearsals for the Messiah's first and second coming. I'm not the only one doing this, to be sure. But we are a tiny minority.
And you need to understand these things in their Hebraic context to accurately understand, in our case here, what "the day and hour no one knows" means and the correct timing of the rapture at the conclusion of the end times.
